Exactly. I very much enjoy the process of making music. Getting note combinations wrong, trying different rhythms, tinkering until I get to something I like.
‘With AI you can do all that with just a couple of prompts, think of all the other things you could do with you time”.
But I like using my time to make music. It doesn’t need to be good (it often isn’t) but it’s the process, being lost in a flow state. Time is the only valuable thing I have.
There are LLM/ML tools I find useful but ChatGPT still isn’t useful to me. Maybe I’m doing it wrong? Maybe I’m not. I have one life.
I find the people touting the “time savings” are ones that pursue productivity for productivity sake. “Chatgpt can answer my emails!” But if that’s the case, maybe the email never needed to be answered in the first place.
Indeed. I want less time dealing with shopping and other household stuff, all the robot stuff they promised in the 1950s!
Supposedly that’s coming too but I have serious doubts it’ll ever be feasible. It also most certainly be used to surveil you.
