I'm not huge on sci-fi books in general but one of my all-time favorite book serieseses is a sci-fi series called Otherland series by Tad Williams. I think I remember there being 5 or 6 books.

It's not strictly sci-fi but I also really enjoyed The Black House and Talisman by Stephen King.

Cool, thanks! I haven't read any of those.

Can confirm, Otherland by Tad Williams is brilliant .. just reading the first book now.

The Hyperion Cantos by Dam Simmons is also brilliant, everyone should read this series .. 🤙🏼

Thanks!

Oh man, I forgot about Otherland. I haaaate Tad Williams's writing style but the story was so good I forced my way through the entire series. It was worth every minute.

SciFi: Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells and agreed on Dune.

Fantasy:

- most of Terry Pratchett- my favs are Night Watch and the Tiffany Aching books (starts with Wee Free Men)

- Neil Gaiman for Stardust and Neverwhere.

- Steven Brust for his Vlad Taltos book (Book of Jhereg is the first published, Book of Taltos is the first chronologically).

- The Abhorsen books by Garth Nix (Sabriel is the first one)

- the Eli Monpress books by Rachel Aaron (first is The Spirit Thief - reviews compare it to Scott Lynch’s Lies of Locke Lamora but I like these better).
