I had the same conversation with someone this week.
He told me he would like to say he would never go fight but if the propaganda got really good then he would probably sign up. š¤·
He agreed about past wars but knew if they blasted it all day in the media he could see himself truly believing in the fight before long.
i always feel like that kind of self-awareness, knowing that all of us are susceptible to being propagandised into hating an 'other', is arguably one of the strong defenses against that very programming š¤
not paying attention to the propaganda is really the first line of defense
if your job requires you to be bathed in the shit, you don't need that job, no matter whether it's clients, colleagues or the boss, you just don't need to hear that shit and anyone who says you do, can go fuck themselves
there is almost always somewhere else where you can get a job that doesn't force you to watch or hear that patent garbage
either change the channel to the classic rock music channel, which everyone loves, or find a new job
It's a strong defence if you use it as such.
Its like saying knowing its raining outside is a defence against getting wet.
You or I might stay inside or use an umbrella to try and stay dry. The person I was talking to was simply saying that once it starts raining he will get we because that's what rain does.

I'm afraid I'm 20 years too late to join this pledge. They already got me. I'm sure I helped make Haliburton some nice profits though, so with 401k trickle down and whatnot, everybody wins. The best part? We totally brought democracy to the Middle East back then, that's why it's so stable and prosperous now. Mission accomplished.
