Questions a young man should ask:

- how is her relationship with her father?

- is her mother what I want my wife to be like?

- how does her mother treat her father?

- do I want my daughters to be like her?

Questions a young woman should ask:

- how does he treat his mother?

- is his father what I want my husband to be like?

- how does his father treat his mother?

- do I want my sons to be like him?

There are always exceptions, and some children are able to break bad familial patterns, but these are generally a good starting place. No one should enter #marriage unthinkingly.
