Was that the moment when the Matrix found out that countries like Russia, Thailand, Indonesia and others aren't actually theirs for taking? Or did the Matrix not realize it yet, but was forced to respond with also printing money en mass after Asia and Russia started it? Was this actually an economic assault from Asia and Russia, and the rest is response to it?

"Matrix" doesn't really apply. A better word is Cathedral, as in the concept of a Cathedral by Mencious Molbug. The Matrix doesn't need to print money or issue debt.
Yes, but Cathedral sort of steals the word from christians. Whatever christianity as a whole represents, I just do not want to offend the few genuinely well wishing and naive christians that there do exist.
