I'm sort of ashamed to admit it, but after some very unpleasant close quarters run-ins with some monstrous insects, I choose vacation and visiting locations partially based on how likely I am to be trapped in a room with a horror show :(

lol... texas roaches are an extra special breed

they call 'em "water bugs" there... because they grow where there's water. unfortunately, there's water everywhere in Houston, lol.

yea they call them water bugs in new york, too, but i always thought that was bullshit. "oh it's not a cockroach, it's a water bug!" nah dude, that's a fucking 3 inch cockroack, call it whatever you want.

Texas ones fly sometimes too, like fuck those massive SOB’s. Smashed a couple while living there and ruined my slippers lol.

When we lived in NY my wife was home alone and "briefly thought there was a butterfly in the apartment" and then looked up and realized there was a palm-sized roach flying around. She ran out of the building lol
