I have never used Medium, so I don't know what I might be missing there. However, I think Nostr is the ultimate publication protocol.
I have used Habla.news and Highlighted for publishing long-form content, and it's incredible to see it populate on all sorts of other clients. Can even have it show up on your own website using npub.pro
