Decanting might just hasten its demise.

I don’t let old wines sit for hours before drinking. If I decant, I do it gently just to not drink sediment. Usually will just sit an old bottle upright for a couple of hours before opening to let it settle at the bottom. I definitely don’t aerate something this old.
