Paying a property tax of 2% in the state of Texas for example on a home valued at 750k will cost you in upwards of over a million dollars over 40 years.

Take your gooberments, put them on their knees, and bleed them into the streets.

Seriously, contemplating moving to an island where property tax is not a thing. There aren't too many countries that do, but if you were going to have a home base, it would be nice to be sovereign at the least.

Real estate is literally one of the biggest shitcoins known to man

Our goal is to not have a dwelling. Have a bad ass tiny house that's not a "permanent structure". And foster bees for an ag exemption.

youre a clever egg ๐Ÿ™‚

Trying to un-learn all the things we were taught, raising the next generation to think differently. Gradually then suddenly.

id hug you awkwardly right now, i agree so much.

Lol, I take all hugs ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿซ‚.

It's hard in normie land, but we talk to the kid about all the things we wish we'd done differently and frequently refer to him as our time machine because he can do them the first time through. I just hope a fraction of it sticks ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

I'd like to read some of the wisdom you're sharing with him.

Teaching him about inflation, involving the government as little as possible, and privacy. Tuttle Twins has some great episodes that help make sense of some of this, we'll watch an episode and talk about the topic a bit more.

Basically your dollars aren't worth anything, they keep printing more and that causes so many far reching problems.

I sold all my real estate except the one I live in and I had all my wealth in RE at one point.

Once I understood Bitcoin I knew real estate as an investment was living on borrowed time.

Rare trophy properties will still be valuable but govs will take them from you one way or the other.

Islands suck

You have to import everything, especially energy

I produce energy.

.. have a little bit of redundancy and import once. Been offgrid for 11 years. I lived in Hawaii for about six months, Oahu, My biggest problem was everybody I met was leaving.

I love Oahu but I've only ever been a tourist there

I don't believe in owning a home. Rent only and invest the rest.

True cheat code

Imagine being geographically stuck to wherever you own a place. That's a long term commitment and contractual obligation I don't want.
