I grew sugar snap peas this year this is what I did and what I learned:

Soaked dried peas until plump and sprinkled into rows, I used square tomato cages opened flat against the house at an angle. *These peas grew surprisingly upright straight up and did not make good use of the supports, these peas want more vertical support.*

The peas were tasty fresh, I liked them most when the pod was plump but still young. *Before the pod plumps there doesn’t seem to be much sugar action going on in the pod *

I made a pea soup using more mature starchy peas (not completely dried out not wrinkly) and younger peas and fresh garlic scapes, Using a immersion blender *it was tasty* I would repeat. Today I finished the cycle by picking off the remaining dried and blackened pods for seed saving. And I’m going to try to time a second harvest this year, I need to do research.
