Can confirm this. Especially people who are neutral or tending to left politics are really turned off because to them it seems that Bitcoin is a right wing project.

„Most people have either no opinion or a negative opinion of bitcoin because somebody tried to evangelize it too hard.“

Would be great to bring zaps to other protocols and more mainstream content to Nostr.

Maybe these people need to open their minds.

Maybe mainstream content is what keeps their minds so closed.

💯

I think nostr being concentrated on bitcoin can be eye opening for many people.

Well, leftists are retarded, so fuck em.

They’re exactly who we DON’T want in Bitcoin.

Bitcoin not enriching socialists, communists, and their fellow travelers...

Is a feature. Not a bug.

> to them it seems that Bitcoin is a right wing project

The problem is much broader than that. I've been trying to explain Bitcoin to adults and children for some years already, and I've noticed that for people to understand Bitcoin, they must first have to understand the problems Bitcoin solves.

Because of the indoctrination people have been subjected for all their lives, undestanding that somebody taking 60%+ of what you earn is a bad thing may sound like a "right wing", but it's not. Your government taking 60%+ of what you earn is plain slavery, and you have to understand that prior to understanding Bitcoin, or you'll get the usual "yeah, but with Bitcoin you can avoid paying taxes, and that's wrong".

So yeah, it's very difficult to explain or understand.

I think the first problem of the current system is that it’s built on credit, which favors the Haves and disadvantages the have nots. Taxes are diametrical the rich pay the least.

That, you also have to explain it, yes.

In my experience, the path almost always starts with understanding the problem - that is, fiat. There’s no need to mention Bitcoin at first. And: every journey is individual; I listen more and ask questions rather than telling my own story. Every conversation is different. Those deeply rooted in Keynesian thinking are often more closed off, defend the ideology they know, and fall back on (flawed) standard arguments.

But I’ve often seen former conversation partners later come back to me with questions and eventually find their way to Bitcoin. Even more surprising, though rare, is when in later discussions with others, they suddenly start making pro-Bitcoin arguments themselves. Those are the real highlights.

I also noticed this reluctance to keep the current system and even doubling down to defend it despite its clear flaws. This defense is actually a very well know human behavior. People who then insist on Bitcoin and how retarded Fiat is create more resistance than will convince anyone.

Hey everyone! I'm working hard to grow my presence here on Nostr and spread valuable content about Bitcoin, freedom, and self-sovereignty.

If you enjoy my posts or believe in the Bitcoin mission, I’d really appreciate your support — a follow, a zap, a repost, or even just sharing my notes helps a lot!

Let’s grow this together and keep pushing for a decentralized future.

Mainstream people don’t typically seek out mainstream content on niche platforms. It’s gonna take a niche attraction to bring people over. Like the Facebook group or marketplace effect. People join Facebook because their neighborhood gardening group is there. This is what nostr could do really well.
