If you had to put all of your net worth into one of these assets for the next 100 years, and no one can change the allocation.

What would you choose?

The goal isn’t just to preserve nominal value, it’s to preserve (and ideally grow) purchasing power while surviving geopolitical, technological, and economic shocks over the century.

Well if i’m living another 100 years. Definitely yolo’ing into fartcoin options.

If that’s not possible for whatever reason. Bitcoin for sure.

#Bitcoin.

It’s the only thing that no one can take from you.

As much as it pains for me to say it, gold. Don't get it twisted, I still got a lot of respect for Bitcoin but it won't be nothing if an EMP happens.

I respect that.

EMPs are pretty localized and for a brief period of time though, right? I don’t know much about EMPs.

Even if all your electronics became permanently disabled, you’d still have your seed phrase you can restore from.

Do you other concerns?

The only other serious concern I have is the government deciding to tie Bitcoin to fiat via things like a BTC standard or the Strategic BTC Reserve, and then doing like what the government did with gold during World War II and rob everyone of their BTC because they are viewed as enemies of the State.

That’s interesting.

Though not sure how this works exactly. Isn’t gold still valued at $35/oz? Yet free market rate is ~$2,700.

Wouldn’t that be similar to how it would work? US marks the btc at $100K let’s say but market continues valuing it at whatever the market buyers dictate.

If it’s a confiscation worry, yes it could eventually happen like it happened to gold but you could argue it’s harder to do so and people with significant wealth can cross borders with ease.

Nothing is perfect, in trying to find as many flaws as I can with BTC. Hard to find many flaws in my humble opinion.

This is the wrong place to find flaws with bitcoin. Way better to engage with a friend that is not into bitcoin in RL.

It’s a quite enlightening process.

True.

I have plenty of those and the conversations can be frustrating just because people are so misinformed.

Few have an open mind and the arguments are weak mostly. Best arguments I hear are the quantum worries, what if US/governments ban it, or it doesn’t have intrinsic value.

Those are nice segueway’s into a deep discussion. Laser eyes baby

Ideally I would ofc split and put it. 25 each but to choose 1.

GOLD, The only problem with gold is it's heavy and yes I intend to make bullion and store it myself.

Wow, *make* bullion?

Another problem with gold is when you need to transact, it’s tough to break it off to an exact amount. Also, the other party would have to assume it is in fact gold (unless they walk around with some sort of way to test it).

I think gold is a safe option. Hard to argue with ~5,000 years of history.

Testing real gold is hard?. Ofc testing large amount is hard lol. But don't they rub it and pour an acid to check? Idk.

Yeah spending will be hard. Or make a lot of small bullions too.

Also make I mean get. English occasionally slips through me.

I’ve never tested gold. I’ve heard they have a machine to test, not sure what other ways there are and how easy and quickly it is for someone to verify it’s real.

I thought you were actually melting and molding your own bullion haha. That would be awesome.

Seriously melting gold and recasting it should not be hard. Idk. If I am super rich and have resources I will defo try to make a cast of my pp and make it golden😅.

Also in olden times before machines gold was tested wasn't it! So there might be a way.
