I like this clear and logical discussion, and I don't think hiding zap is a good idea. I understand Karnage's concern that some unfamiliar functions will make it difficult for new users to join. However, the growth of new users is not due to the obstacles of unfamiliar functions, which can be well solved by good user guidance and improved wallet function. The most important thing is that Nostr needs to provide a client that is different from other social software and can meet the underlying needs of users. Nostr has been provided and needs to wait for an opportunity. Only this power is big enough that any unfamiliar features won't get in the way. The premise is that the product experience and novice guidance are good enough. Nostr does not yet have a client that does this well enough.
