because clients load images. People can DM you with an image and it will know you loaded it. One thing we could do is not load images from non-friends.
It's not arrogant. It's very basic privacy. If you don't hide it, it's out there. Bots will crawl it. Nature of the beast. No, it's not "right" but it's always been a fact. I'm just seriously shocked at all the surprise about this. Hide your private keys or you'll get got. Hide your IP or you'll get got. Same.
Emotionally, I feel you. It's a violation. I understand. But bots were grabbing your IP 30 years ago.
