You could probably extend that and say any custodian shouldn't be trusted. But Swan especially.

You beat me to it. I was gonna say any closed source 3rd party

Does that extend to people who work/worked for swan?

Very dependent. I know good people that worked/work there. Only one still is there.

Before I learned you could be in without working for a bitcoin company, I actually applied there, like two years later it became known why I dodged a bullet apparently. I know some good guys over there too, but wow what a messy thing that would be such a time suck.

God, imagine being caught up in all those lawsuits πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

As in house it would suck a lot.

I’ve been a Swan Bitcoin customer for several years now and have been considering opening a business account with them as well.

I know of no trust issues with them. What’s the deal?

Consider Unchained or River.

Yes

Thanks for the info , Seth. I’ll check them both out and compare. I don’t keep a lot of funds in my Swan account. I dollar cost average up to a set amount and then sweep into a hardware wallet for safe keeping.

They do not practice what they preach, to start. They don't hold their own keys or run their own node and have used poor partners to offload this (see Prime Trust). The CEO is a douchebag. Their IRA disallows in-kind transfer. They generally only know marketing and don't much else.

Anyway, DYOR YMMV.

Appreciate the info. Be well.

Why?

Probably boils down to poor leadership if invaded to pick one
