I pretty sold on NOSTR, but wouldn't mind a comparison of NOSTR and XMPP.
Xmpp is fantastic but it doesnt have the same function.
Its better at direct p2p communication

Well not exactly. Matrix is similar to xmpp. But matrix/element are one protocol, and xmpp is a different one.
