Tolls/fees are NOT TAXES.
You pay for a service, with a contract. You can go to court when the contract is not fullfilled.
You are not obligeg to pay, you can choose another road for example.
Only the people that use the service (i.e. 'this road') pay for it.
But most important:
MONOPOLIES ARE BAD.
They cause high prices paired with bad quality.
The state claims monopolies (roads, security, defense, courts and so on).
Without competition the outcome is always subpar.
That's why people live in gated communities.
They don't do this, because public service is good.
State and taxes always lead to missalignment of resources, ALWAYS.
Maybe you are intetested in the scool of austrian economics, if you want to learn more about this topics. Privatization is key to liberty.
'But the state lies in every tongue of good and evil; and whatever he says, he lies - and whatever he has, he has stolen' -- Friedrich Nietzsche
