Creating a circular economy around Nostr/BTC will require some type of developer compensation.

It is easy to forget, or not realize, the amount of work going into product development.

If we want to build this thing out we need to keep this in mind.

Maybe today should be zap your developer day.

I try and pay nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z every time he releases a new version but the guy works too damn fast πŸ˜‚

There should be some sort of zap split system like #[2] has made for podcasting 2.0 value4value podcastindex.org

Then user could send x% split on any zaps they make to anyone they want, including the client / relay developers and relay hosts or whomever they want.

The splits could be configured in the users profile so they have full control over it and it follows them no matter what client they use.

Exactly. Maybe there is a better way still.

Nostr is just a baby, these things take time. A year from now it'll likely be a whole new (and hopefully better) experience.

There's just so much that can be done with an open protocol.

Btw thanks for the satsπŸ™‚

Absolutely. I'm trying to sort out how I can contribute more and start a homestead.

I wish you all the success. I just bought my place last Dec. It's a lot of work but the feeling of independence makes it work it.

Relays need #zap splits too. I can't imagine how much hosting a relay costs.

For sure. There would need to be transparency in all of it.

Sending a % to 25+ relays would add up.

For me it's $4 per month with digitalocean.com

But I don't have a lot of users hitting my relay. I can imagine a future when I may have to upgrade.

I'm also not storing media on my server. Which is something I'd like to do. I don't like storing my media at the whim of 3rd parties.

I hope Amethyst enables the ability to upload to other than imgur in the future.

That's actually very reasonable!

Amethyst now allows uploads to nostrimg.com which helps spread the risk. It also has an option to upload to "your relays" but that option requires the relays to support NIP-95.

Thank you I'll look into nip-95

Nip-95 isn't on the list of official nips

https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips

It's it still in development?

It caused a lot of drama because it breaks image loading in clients that don't support it. The dev for Amethyst tried to force everyone to adopt the NIP, but thankfully he backed off and made it optional in the latest version on the app store.

It looks like NIP-95 was removed from the official list of NIPs about 2 weeks ago.

Ahh, I heard about the image controversy but didn't really look into it.

Thanks
