I keep a bunch of passwords in plain text files around my system with obvious sounding names like pass.txt
The passwords are to nothing. It just amuses me thinking if my computer is ever compromised at least send attackers in wild goose chases.

Smarter….. not harder.
I once deployed a honeypot at the dayjob that got hit first and my script locked the user out of the rest of the fileserver.
DIY honeypots are top tier security, cmm.
Brilliant
I leave unencrypted wallet.dat files with actual sats in them and have tx notifications setup in case those ever move.
How do you create tx notification?
Right now? shellscript in crontab invoking bitcoin-cli and sending email.

Setup a way to find out if your passwords are ever used... Like make one of your passwords be clearly for one of your own websites but also make the name of it enticing
Then if you find your passwords are compromised, you know that you are being targeted.
you could also keep a decoy plaintext private key on your comp to alert when you've been compromised
