You can choose a large one, which has roughly the same centralized "trust and safety" problem set of traditional social media, meaning they censor content on your behalf or censor you on everyone else's behalf.

Or you can choose some boutique "community" instance, which is administrated usually by a cabal of mentally unstable autists, who will just rug your account without deliberation for any array of petty reasons.
