Ok explain Zaps
Zaps are just satoshis sent from one lightning wallet to another. Instead of liking a message or meme or video someone posted, the Nostr/Bitcoin philosophy is “value for value”. If you believe Bitcoin is valuable, it is more sincere to zap someone than to ❤️.
One of the biggest concepts to “get” about nostr is that it is open source. It is not owned by Elon, or Zuckerberg, or whoever. There is competition and cooperation from the developers, ultimately resulting in a better user experience. If Joe Schmo makes the worlds best Nostr client tomorrow that is better than all the others it forces others to adapt or be left behind. It’s about the user, not your data or marketing.
I understand about 61% of the words and 37% of the concepts you used in your reply. I truly look forward to learning way more about all of this. This is my first social media site to join. So the “avoiding Elon,etc.” argument goes great for me. I just don’t understand, conceptually, how all this program,client,etc. stuff fits together to make me have more money for coffee, student loans, etc.
