Unpopular opinion, but I don't think we'll see AGI in our lifetimes. Human intelligence is categorically different from machine intelligence, so I believe machines will always have some fundamental limitation that prevents full human-like intelligence.

NGL, I think AI will continue to fail to be the idealised AGI every VC and secret police force is looking for.

But so will everyone you work with. AGI doesn't really exist because NI doesn't really exist. Not the way people think it does.
