Zaps could have an interesting effect. What are the incentives like when Nostr is widely adopted? Do accounts get encouraged to pile in on wedge issues and spread made up misinfo that might go viral?
Maybe there should be an unZap feature? 😂
How do you want to implement "unzap" feature? It doesn't make sense to have L1 irrevesible while L2 not irreversible... Maybe people will learn to ask nicely "hey, can you send me my sats back, please" and it will only make things more entertaining haha
It wasn’t an entirely serious idea 😂. I was thinking unzaps would be more like downvotes. It’s not taking your zap back. It’s like taking sats from the OP.
It would complexity things. Perhaps zaps could be held in an escrow for an amount of time. Allowing sats to be added and removed. Downvoting ‘unzaps’ should also have a cost to the user as well as the OP to prevent abuse.
So if I unzap you 50 sats. I pay 50 sats but it also costs you 50 sats. Perhaps those 100 sats could go to fund the devs or simply get burned somehow.
It’s probably entirely unworkable, but it’s worth thinking about what the potential downsides of zapping might be and how to mitigate them.

Depends on the use case. Polls with zaps are rather stupid, because it kind of is PoS. The more sats you have the more power.
Ofc you could say, hey but if you spend more sats you deploy more votes. But (sats) poor people don't have money anyway. So they cant spend money on anything really.
