Democrats won’t budge on entitlements, military spending, and will push back on discretionary spending. Republicans won’t budge on taxes, military spending, or entitlements either. It’s politically infeasible for one side to cave to the other so we seem destined for greater hardship over the next 50 to 100 years from a high tax or high inflation regime. Best case is large cuts to govt spending which also translates into hardships and social unrest.

We aren’t even talking about China or Russia, the west coast over pumping their aquifers, global warming impact on seasons, ecosystem collapse, running out of cheap fossil fuels, degradation of agricultural soils due to current farming practices and soil erosion, or the costs due to government responses to any of these.
