Born in 1895, lived to the age of 88 years. This man saw some things.

While you're on the Fuller dive, let me know if you get the gist of Synergetics. I get it conceptually but I don't have the mental capacity to grasp it. It seems like it could be a game changer if we were all taught this instead of our xyz geometry.

His philosophy is what appeals most to me. I read all his books except I could not complete Synergetics due to cognitive overload.

wow.

ok. im curious.. 🧐

Ok.

Here is my best guess.

Synergetics is a way of thinking that confronts the western tendency to think of things in isolation, rather than part of an interconnected whole. The difficulty in grasping this, in my opinion, has to do with how RBF communicates. He has an unusual way of seeing the world, which allows him to see things from a different perspective. And when he explains it, he describes the thinking process which led him to that conclusion. But because his thinking process is uncommon, it can be hard to follow.

For Synergetics, he uses alot of geometric examples which IMO arent the easiest to understand. Another example would be:

Taking antibiotics to kill an infection. Veiwed in isolation, this is exactly what happens. But because everything is connected, there are additional things happening that will be missed unless thinking synergetically. The microbiome will also be damaged, changing the digestive system. The antibiotics will also pass into the water table from urine. etc, etc.

Synergetics is the practice of viewing changing systems from a holistic viewpoint, instead of focusing only on isolated factors, therefore missing unintended consequences. A belief rooted in his view that everything is part of a grand, interconnected design. Or as he put it, "the things you miss can come back around and hit you in the back of the head."
