On the British Airways flight from LA to London yesterday, they wanted everyone to board via biometric ID. I asked if I could opt out, and the guy at the desk said, “No, it’s required.” I said, “I’m not comfortable giving my biometric ID to companies which get hacked all the time.” He said “It’s the US government that gets the data.” I told him that was even worse, and he said I could talk to his supervisor.

Supervisor said, yeah, just show your boarding pass over on the side. So I (and my family) did.

Always ask. Always opt out.

American citizens can still opt out of biometric boarding pass for now. Airlines don't make it easy on purpose.

Non-US citizens cannot opt out. In your case, British citizens cannot opt out.
