With temperatures plunging to -8F and not getting above freezing this week we have had to work extra to make sure the livestock have water.

One tip I learned last year was to keep water in a large thermos. This works great for our sheep. The coldest temperatures only resulted in a thin layer of ice at the top of the container. At no point has it frozen solid. It also retains the heat longer when we pour in warm water.

Water is life.

The sheep will drink this down close to the bottom (less than 1/4 full). Then it will get pretty solid. However, looks like it's liquid long enough to get them through the night
