Resilience: Create an emergency-use bitcoin wallet

Ignoring how you secure your bitcoin, most of us have thought through various scenarios where the plan is:

I'll move my bitcoin to a new wallet

So let's think that through ..

If one of your multi-sig keys is lost/compromised, or a tamper-evident seal on a seed is violated, or your hardware wallet is stolen, then we can all agree two things are immediate:

1. You'll be compelled to act with urgency

2. You'll have a heightened state of stress

These two qualities are great for keeping us safe from lions in the savanah, but not so great for the cool calm thinking and the careful process to follow when securely creating a new wallet

So, pick a quiet calm time and go through your process for creating a new wallet, then keep the xpub, or a single address, easily accessible for just such "emergency use"

Like house insurance, no-one wants to have to use it, but if you need it, then having it in place is going to protect you

Easy and cheap to do -> peace of mind.

I've been meaning to commit 12 random words to memory.

I should really get onto it.

Having the xpub to a brain wallet with no funds could prove useful.

Add a strong passphrase and memorize that instead. You can store the seed on steel or a password manager

I have a strong passphrase.

I'm wanting to have the ability to store Bitcoin in my mind. To be able to exit with my wealth in my head.

This would be a contingency rather my preferred method of long term custody.
