#asknostr Question for the #monero guys. I have been mining on my laptop for fun for a few weeks. I got my first payout but I don't see it in my wallet. The address is correct. I am new to monero.

What am I missing?

Monero can suck at syncing in a timely manner, hopefully that's the issue but not enough info to know yet

I'm sure it will come through. I see there are syncing settings In the wallet. I don't really know what it means. Not like I need to see it anytime soon.

You can use your viewkey to check the transaction in a block explorer at the cost of some privacy if you're anxious to verify it

What pool you using? P2pool? Mini or the other? With mini I think it aggregates shares then pays out when min it high enough.

P2P mining pool only works with main addresses starting with a 4 instead of an 8.

Don't use main addresses for anything, but p2p mining. Every friend or service should have its own sub address.

When I was mining using GUI wallet, I had to stop mining and reset it to sync my balance. XMR mining isn’t profitable in almost any case because so many people install the software maliciously on other people’s hardware without their knowledge.

It’s a great cryptocurrency. Honestly, I would love to see a world where I can save in sats and spend XMR.

are you mining with the standard GUI wallet or what exactly?
