i wonder though what would have been the impact if Trump stayed - I don't think it would have been just upset users - I think twitter and Jack would be hailed through a public criminal lawsuit and Jack will still be removed one way or another - because gov't be it left or right wants someone they can control and Jack wasn't somoene they could control. I remember the intensity of the moment that that time and a lot of criminal legal terms were used. As much as the Right were pissed, the Left were equally intense. America's biggest challenge these days is that its people are too polarized. Also that was during lockdown / easing up phase, stress was multiplied - everything was a trigger factor

If he suspended Trump then shareholders would revolt and remove him as CEO. If kept him then users are upset, but he’d be able to keep running twitter and not have it taken over by hedge funds and activist investors.
Once January 6th happened, a bunch of other sites started suspending Trump and the decision much easier. I don not envy anyone who had to balance those interests.
