I have heard for years from UX specialists that Lightning would never be used by "normies" because QR codes were too confusing.

Then in less than 2 years PIX came from nowhere and became the most used payment system in Brazil and the people love the QR code experience.

What do those UX specialists suggest then? What are the other options for lightning payments?

I myself find it quite easy and straightforward to have payments done through QR code.

You bet - #Paytm is the most used way to pay in #India . Street vendors display their QR code on their carts :-) They don't even check their phones after you pay ...

Too confusing? 😅

Similar to Brazil, Indonesia has various payment providers (Gopay, QRIS, etc) using QR Code which used easily by many Indonesian merchants and buyers

excellent point - on EASY of USE by normal non-tech people - as use adoption. this is beyond BR

happening in many other countries just for micropayments for merchants

people just need to break free of the stigma towards Bitcoin

once they realise Lightning is as easy as "regular" payment methods, it's a question of months for majority adoption in some areas

if only LNs problems were the need to scan a QR

Exactly that’s the last of your problems. Don’t forget to KYC with your wallet provider.

I heard the same from a telecom investor in 2009. They shut down a cool payment project that relied on QR codes because they wanted NFC to win, right then, right there. (Plus some corporate politics, to boot.)
