That's a great point. It takes recognizing that there no room for more than one. Once one figures out that it is a religion.
It's slippery because what's the problem with using the moon to make New year's resolutions. Kinda like Christmas trees for to celebrate Christmas.
In my experience, all of this stuff is atheists and agnostics trying to fill the spiritual void in their lives without actually committing to anything. They know they are missing something but can't give up moral relativism. It's better to avoid that kind of person altogether. You just can't trust them.
