The logic of this graphic and assertion is seriously flawed.

How a man treats himself is how he will treat others, including his family, because there is no separation between the inner and outer world of a man.

Therefore, a great man treats himself with kindly spoken truth and levity and compassion, realizing the core of his being already wants to be and accomplish good things and is already good.

He does this not only because he is worthy of treating his heart well, in a way that inspires his heart to be authentic and open, where in some sense his true strength lies, he does this as a leader, who will then turn around and interact with his wife and kids in the same way, and will therefore foster in them genuineness, safety and security, confidence, competence, and character.

Being gentle with, rather than hard, on oneself is the path to treating others the same way. The way is minimum necessary force.
