My electricity provider has just announced that they're increasing my electricity usage charges by 39% and electric supply charge by 14.5%
It's lucky inflation is only 7% though

I was getting rorted until I changed plans.
Even with the recent rise I think my rate is still less than I was paying 12 months ago.
We're looking at solar after getting our insulation done, probably in the same boat as you over here in SA.
I have a feeling many Australian service providers will be putting their prices up July 1.
It will be at least Aug-Sep until it shows up in CPI data.
More rate rises for 2023?
Now in california, utilities are introducing the idea of electric billing based on income not on consumption.
So if youre poor or a failed/broke business, you get cheap electricity regardless of kwh consumption.
Wow. That's not going to end well for anyone.
On a short time frame, misaligned incentives benefit certain groups until people start talking action based on them. In the end many won't have access to reliable power.
