Alright nostriches, maybe someone has some advice... This is the second time this scenario has happened. Until this post I have exclusively used NOSTR via Amethyst. Twice while using Amethyst my "follows" have gone to zero :-( ... luckily my "followers" have not changed. I'm rebuilding my "follows" list again. Anyone have advice as to how I can avoid this in the future so I don't have to rebuild my list a fourth time?!? (I hope this scenario is making sense to those reading)

Are the people you follow still showing up on your feed? I think this is nostr’s way of saying “Stay humble and stack sats!”

no... it was a blank feed. 🙃 I had to rebuild the list. I probably have most of it back, but I'm sure there are a few cool people that I'm neglecting. 🤦‍♂️

I’m sure there are some devs working overtime to fix it.

You may need to run a NOSTR relay. I had the same issue until I started running my own NOSTR relay on my Umbrel.

Unfortunately I think you're right and I need to take the self-sovereignty to the next level... hardware 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

yes... it's a lot better if you can run your own relay. Even just to back up everything that's yours

What kind of requirements are needed to run a relay?

I just run an Umbrel node, and they have an app for running a private relay. It's made from a raspberry Pi 4 8GB, and a 1TB SSD. You can check out their website here: https://umbrel.com/

Thanks!

You bet!

I've periodically checked to buy a raspberry pi for ~2 years and they are never in stock. I'll have to go a different route.

Yeah I feel you. I bought my setup about 2 years ago. Since then prices for all components (except for the ssd) have gone up in price.
