What an inspiring call to fight against despair! It is almost touching how Satan is portrayed here as the ultimate evil. We easily forget that he is a product of divine will—a fallen angel who was cast out by a selfish and vengeful God.

So this is the loving message of this religion: the world is a battlefield where you should use the talents given to you by a god who cast out his own child and wrote a history full of hatred and violence.

Perhaps that is the true irony. The despair and passivity that we are warned about could be the logical outcome of a religion that forces us to believe that a vengeful father is the ultimate source of hope.
