🦎 The Secret Behind the Gecko’s Grip!

It doesn’t use glue.

It doesn’t use claws.

This is the foot of a gecko — a natural engineering marvel that lets it walk upside down on ceilings, cling to vertical glass, and sprint across walls like gravity doesn’t exist.

Each toe is covered in millions of microscopic hair-like structures called setae, and each seta splits into hundreds of nanoscopic tips known as spatulae. These tiny fibers create intermolecular forces — called van der Waals forces — that allow the gecko to literally “stick” to surfaces at the atomic level.
