cant you just resize the partition, install Windows on it and boot from either with grub?
is that option 1?

Yeah that's pretty much it. But win11 takes the entire disk by default so it's a process to dd the current image, install win on metal, resize win using win since ntfs is fuckey, reinstall iso to blank partition
Or
Dd current install and write to an SD, install win on metal, resize win in win and move only boot from SD to metal.
There's also the lazy man's method of stick win on an external but where's the zaz?
I forget what I did on mine 😕
Its a 10yr old laptop I got specifically because there some software for my solar setup that is only windows.
Mustve installed Win first, then booted from ventoy, resized and installed linux.
Yeah, if you need to preserve your current install thats a pain.
I'd just backup data and hose the whole thing.
That's pretty much it, win exclusive software. Wine and proton do great but can't do it all.
I really just want to sandbox steam and kodi from my development device and I think win is a decent option given it's ability to play some droid games as well. It beats the original plan of steam os and libreelec in VMs lol 😂
