If your parents are the type to analyze and discuss, Mandibles is a good story that puts a mirror up against the current state of economic affairs and shows a plausible path to hyperinflation and economic collapse. It explains how this sort of collapse happens gradually then suddenly. The collapse happens in front of everyone's eyes yet most don't notice or admit it until its far too late.

Sets the stage for why Bitcoin.

In terms of financially focused books, it's a relatively easy read. At it's core, it's a work of fiction. It's got a good compelling story so even if there's no post mortem discussion, it's still an entertaining story and maybe SOME of the underlying lessons will sink in subconsciously lol
