What if… 💡

We redefined nationhood in the digital era, drawing inspiration from Bitcoin's decentralization. We’re already connected here, beyond boarders.. what if we take it a step further 👇🏼

My thought basis gears towards creating Decentralized Digital Nations, starting not with land, but with the collective spirit in the digital ether. This “new realm” transcends physical boundaries, embodying principles of freedom, privacy, and open-source collaboration.

Our journey can begin by uniting individuals online, forging a community that prioritizes digital interaction and shared values.

This community serves as the foundation for our ethereal nation, emphasizing remote work, cultural cohesion, and digital civility.

Gradually, we extend into the physical realm, not through contiguous lands, but by crowdfunding distributed enclaves, united by our common ethos.

The approach mirrors the decentralized nature of #Bitcoin —valuing network strength and ideological unity over geographical proximity. This concept of a reverse diaspora would begin online, with each physical presence acting as a node of our digital ethos.

I assume skeptics may view this as mere fantasy, yet Bitcoin’s ascent from obscurity to global recognition showcases the power of collective vision.

A Decentralized Digital Nation, The Citizens of Satoshi, is more than an idea; it’s a reflection of the evolving concept of nationhood, defined by community and shared principles, not borders.

In this new era, a nation's legitimacy stems from its community, transparency, and societal contributions, much like Bitcoin's rise to prominence.

As our digital nation grows, we seek not only numerical strength but also societal acknowledgment.

Here’s the vision: In the spirit of #innovation and #freedom that #Bitcoin  embodies, we create a world where Decentralized Digital Nations, guided by the principles of decentralization and self-sovereignty, pave a new path in human civilization.

Now, this could be just a crazy idea, but it also could be the start of a whole new decentralized world.

Let’s do this! To gauge interest, do you want to remain a citizen of your country? Or are you ready to pioneer a revolution? 👇🏼

Pioneering sounds exciting 🤙

What is your nationality? I choose a lawful nation over a legal nation. We can make this happen. I've been envisioning it too.

Have you read The Sovereign Individual? It might pique your interest.

Also getting The Network State vibes

not yet - but it’s been on my list forever 👀

This is completely possible. I've been having the same vision, although through a different lens.

Nostr (and other tech) are the public houses of the modern day. As we spiral over previous paths, it's easy to miss that we're doing a new flavor of what we've done before.

Networking/community is the answer to security.

100% - we out number governance - we can redefine citizenship - why do we need to ask for permission? We don’t. We innovate. We revolutionize what it means to be a citizen. A citizen of Satoshi.

It sounds like fiction now but this is going to happen, and it’s going to be important.

Bitcoiners will have to build an alternative or it will be subsumed by fiat world

Bingo 🔥

Count me in.

Need a new nostr relay implementation that whitelists an npub if the user verifies a signature of their npub from a bitcoin wallet - “proof of stake” for participation.

Exactly! I've been thinking about this as well.

Citadels baby! MOAR CASTLES!

One of my goals is to own a big Catamaran to live on. This gives one the ability to relocate as needed and have limited need to interact with the tyranny.

Until you cross borders. If you do, you better have papers and fees in order.

Been thinking this since months ago. A lot! It is super nice to see you guys also considering this. Let the epiphany begin!

What if we already are, but we cannot see it yet?

We have been - I’m encouraging a shift to the next level 🤝🔥👏🏻

The orange pill is really the red pill 🫡

Your use of the word enclaves piques my interest as someone I follow on YouTube also uses that word and has a similar set of ideas. Where did your inspiration come from? Nb. I'm not suggested anyone stole anything I'm just interested to see the parallels!

Grade school geography class? There’s many enclaves all over the world already, just not in this concept.

You may be surprised. An enclave as you describe or similar (not necessarily btc based) are being planned. I think Chaumian Mints might be a useful idea for a community such as this as a bank type role based on BTC. Also I imagine the powers that be would love to derail it. I think the idea has legs but I'd worry about its defence physically, economically, culturally etc.

You're touching on a lot of stuff that I've been giving a lot of thought to recently, as I think a lot of Bitcoiners should be doing. The most important part, that you left open at the end of your note there which was a nice touch, is to overcome one's conditioning to think of one's self as a citizen of a nation. Everyone around the world is force-fed propaganda from birth about the greatness of "their" nation, and just sort of sleepwalk through their whole lives without questioning it in the slightest. Even as someone with a Canadian passport, I can admit to having drunk the koolaid in my impressionable youth. That said, I also have to admit that it's a lot easier to break free of said conditioning when you grow up in a colony without any strong culture, as opposed to a power centre at the heart of a dominant empire. I also haven't lived there in 10+ years which is another factor that works against the average person; hard to break free when you're surrounded and saturated with a perspective that presents itself as both de facto reality and destiny.

Once you get past that though, there are still many major problems that need to be sorted out, for example I don't agree that anything meaningfully revolutionary can be achieved online except what were doing here, which is just the very basic of preambles of theory. But in any case, you have to start somewhere, and like I said, getting in the headspace of being free of dependence from the concept of "the state" or "the nation" is a very important first step.

There must be a way for humans to be able to enjoy the fruits of evolution, tech, civilization and wealth without the need to belong to a nation, countr or empire.

There are also rights and benefits to belonging, but the more we humans become self sufficient in all aspects, self health improvement, self education, etc, the less we need the structures that are mandatory when belonging. Does this make sense?

I will answer myself, then. It is not about the self. A Collective species who thrives in groups better than in solitary certainly needs parameters of organisation. Mmm... Lots of thinking needed on this one.

Yeah you're right, there are trade-offs between being a part of the ingroup and the outgroup and historically of course people have always chosen, when they had the choice, being a part of the ingroup, for the security. Unfortunately it's this same choice that has led to so much power being accumulated in the state through all its various institutions and their interconnected nature, over time.

We're at a unique moment in time where technology and education allow us to make a different choice, while mitigating the downsides, but it's still a very treacherous path, no doubt.

Interesting. What does NI say? I shall ask.

I've never cared about being "Canadian" and even less now than ever before.

My values never lined up with those that others professed to hold.

My wife and I have at least found a largely Christian community but the Bitcoin aspect is entirely absent bar three of us. People where we are mostly don't understand it and are content to bitch about the problems whilst not offering any solutions.

I wouldn't begin to know what to call myself in terms of a digital nationality.

Citizen of Freedom

Citizen of Satoshi

Citizen of I AM

I AM has sent me 🕊️

It fails without food, shelter, and defenders. People can’t live in a digital ether, they must live on the land.

Food doesn’t exist with remote work.

Shelter doesn’t exist with remote work.

Defense doesn’t exist with remote work.

Manufacturing doesn’t build water pumps and light bulbs without raw materials and energy.

Nations exist, and there’s a reason max keiser wants a bitcoin nation state.

You didn’t read the full thing 😂🙏🏼

💀

Maybe they did

I did, distributed enclaves don’t work because they exist within other lands.

Notice my third point regarding defense.

The city states of Greece were taken by Rome.

The American Indians were massacred by the USA.

These bitcoin rich enclaves you suggest will be a target by all kinds of bad actors.

You do realize nuclear weapons exist in the world correct?

I'll tell you my case with an example.

Imagine you are going to a wealthy neighborhood and you see poor people selling food and other stuff around a popular building. Rich people buy some of those things (personal preferences/comparative advantage) but the poor people start to compete between them and the things they sell become extremely cheap.

What's the effect of this? Maybe you could think the poor will be in disadvantage, but this stream of abundant and cheap goods is pretty much uncensorable. If the state wants to intervene, it will have a difficult path to censor the commerce on that place. The other consequence is that, with the existence of this products, general population can start new entrepreneurships and earn money from that, making some of them rich.

If some of them become rich, then they Will probably see the opportunity of making more money by buying a different set of things to other poor people (because the law of comparative advantage) and the cycle begins again

The thing is that not all aspects of a nation can be replicated digitally.

Too bad he is too blockchain fixated.
