Given that the bulk of data usage comes from images/videos/gifs, a good way would be to give the option to not automatically load images, but if a user taps a "download" button on the post, then the image for that post would be loaded.

Yep, but I hate configs... It app should work out of the box without any need to change it's settings.

Hmm, how about a way for Amethyst to not automatically download any media over a certain size, and allow a user to tap a download icon if they want to see it? That way it wouldn’t be a setting, but more a safeguard limit, and only would affect certain circumstances.

It’s the pfp’s and the banners.

Some people are using 50mb gifs.

Main thing is the image data sizes - we'll probably need a proxy server for that?
