Since is is so quiet, I wanted to run a little “poll”. If there was a service that would allow you to get your own zappable address (and maybe NIP-05 and email), and would allow you to also use your own domain, while using your own node, would you be interested! Clearly the node would have to be online for it to work, and probably only clearnet due to performance. There is one by Will for CLN https://sendsats.lol - so something like that but more! 🐶🐾🫡

I think it’s a good idea since there is currently a bit of complexity setting this up but I do think it might not be too long before Umbrel/embassyOS etc have something so you can easily self host this on your node.
It’s still hard to do on RPi? Something reliable, sort of a proxy could be the way! 🐶🐾🫡
Think the main problem would be dns / static IP, there are dynamic solutions but not as nice as setting dns records and leaving them imo

Agreed, DNS and static IP is probably the part that people would have issues with even if Umbrel did include a NIP-57 Lightning address server.
Is that how you have yours set up at the moment? I was looking at using Cloudflare but I don’t think I could do it without moving my domain to be hosted by Cloudflare.
Yes! A true compact home server. Something like a cable box that you plug in and connect to your wifi. I can see that coming, but it’ll probably take another 5 years. Bitcoin node, lightning node, nostr relay, and data storage with domain. It’ll be like when we went from mainframes to a PC in every home, now we’ll go from everything on AWS to having a server in every home.
