trains achieve 500 ton-miles per gallon for cargo. trucks 150 ton-miles per gallon for cargo. a passenger car is 2 tons and achieves 30 mpg so 60 ton-miles per gallon but that is DEAD WEIGHT of the car itself NOT useful cargo.
