Talk to me about relays. When I joined nostr I added all of them. Now you’re not supposed to but I panic when I try to delete any. How do you know what to delete?

Good question, don’t overthink it to much, as you can always add them back. I have gone up and down in relay count (most I had was around 30, and I think sweet spot is around 15ish for speed and performance. Although others may have other opinions.. Hope they chime in.

I am pretty confident we still need better tools for this. Should be pretty simple to make an app that can check relay Healy like nostr.watch but also recommend relays based on your npub. I don’t know if it exists though

My general strategy is to keep my paid relays and 4-5 public relays that I know are running performant software (strfry) or have dedicated devs that I trust. This of course requires more research
Too many relays can impact performance. Somewhere in the 10-15 range works well. Even a handful car work if they are reliable and performant.
Check the profiles of some of the people you follow and you can look at their relay lists. That’s a good place to start, you don’t need to add them all!
