I find most new npubs i follow i'll eventually unfollow because they don't interact.

I definitely start with a glance at the profile. All reposts? No follow. More posts than replies, probably a no follow.
But mostly its just time and interaction. A feeling of such.

Same with you.
I try not to follow to many high profile accounts. Like nostr:nprofile1qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqg4waehxw309ahx7um5wghx6ctvd9hzummwds0xggvh will never follow me back and interact. And I'm okay with that. She's a busy lady and I read her newsletter.
But on the other-hand nostr:nprofile1qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejgpr9mhxue69uhhxetwv35hgtnwdaekvmrpwfjjucm0d5q3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet5mm8xr7 replies to me sometimes and it is fun to get interaction from someone thats been highly influential in my life.
Then there is nostr:nprofile1qqs0wa4ucy38r0nel3cmv40ne0lt829pd8enacfntlxqcg5znyqa5jspy3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujummvv33kjare943xjarrda5kuetjwvhxjmnxduhszxmhwden5te0wfjkccte9ekkzemfvd3kjare9ekxjan99ugl224d who when i started following had only a few follows and has blown up due to his hard work. He replies and I can watch him grow in real time while enjoying his art.
Mostly it's about if I have fun interacting. If it's not fun it's not meaningful and your npub is cut 👌

Interesting approach. Been here for a while now and I’m pretty sure I follow some dead accounts who were quite active 3 years ago. Must get around to trimming it back. For follows, I try to use a combo of their level of interactivity and if they post stuff that is interesting to me. Agree with the constant reposters - that’s a good gauge.
