Why not give the users their bitcoin directly? Why give it out in fiat?
Cause they don’t have it and would cost a lot to get the same amounts now.

I think they have a small portion of the total amount. So they are selling to give people the dollar amount they have. The courts aren’t going to divi up portions of bitcoin in what they owe people. If Bitcoin was worthless you would want fiat so you could invest in something else or pay bills with the money you haven’t had access to for a long time.
I’m with you though, I would want the BTC
