Individuals running relays is what makes nostr decentralized and censorship resistant.
Nobody can ever censor posts on your own relay!

In the future governments can ban certain public keys and relais containing those public keys will be fined.

Governments can't operate outside their jurisdictions. China has already banned my relay yet here my notes stand and the CCP can't get me.
What is the realistic system needed? I've got a spare old server that's currently a bitcoin node, decent older spec.
The greatest thing about Nostr is how nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 designed it to be uncensorable, because anyone with a simple computer can run your own relay, and publish to it.

And what about internet bandwidth, storage... Can you tell what are the requirements?
Yeah, Nostream can run in a raspberry pi with at least 4GB ram. Other relay implementations can as well I’m sure.
Nostr relays are pretty lightweight.
So what kinda storage should one look into having to run this? Are there certain parameters you can run to limit types of data usage/ duration of stroage etc?
