False dichotomy. I use both for different purposes.
which would you grab for a steak?
The cast iron, to build on the seasoning.
that’s how I felt before, but then started getting paranoid about ingesting small amounts of rust
Ever since I started making bacon and other animal-fatty things on mine, the seasoning has improved significantly. I don't think it's ever rusted since I started the bacon therapy.
I do have a cast iron kettle that rusts and I eye it suspiciously 🤨 though I haven't had any issues drinking the water I boil in it. I use my other smaller one most of the that's fine.
bacon therapy!
Yeah! 😁
It's what I called it after my bacon started actually fixing the seasoning on my poor pan that I'd been coating in seed oils for years. Things would stick to it all the time, but not anymore. I actually wasn't eating much bacon before either, and this coincided with me wanting to eat more meat/saturated fat. Big win for my pan tbh.
Same, absolutely love being able to just grab the Hilti impact drill to remove burnt residue .. teflon or cast iron could never
haha I haven’t had an issue as long as I clean it immediately after use, before it has a chance to cool down
