The whole point of cold storage was that the keys never leave the device. Ledger just lost my business for ever Laura.

I need new recommendations for a cold storage wallet. Since I'm going to be spending shinny new coin. What recommendations do you have that offer QR code scanning into the device? I was planning on buying their Stax, but with this new shenanigans, I'm out!

What hardware wallet do you recommend?

Passport looks pretty good. Easier to use than a coldcard but just as secure. No wireless or wired data. QR reader. I appreciate nostr:npub1tr4dstaptd2sp98h7hlysp8qle6mw7wmauhfkgz3rmxdd8ndprusnw2y5g 's commitment to teaching people about privacy as well. Looks like they may have just gone on sale too. I bought mine a few days ago for $270 and now it's $199. They know a lot of people are going to be in the market for a new hardware wallet today! 😂

Be sure to fill out the form for a gift card, definitely feel for those who recently ordered!

It's always tricky but we wanted to bring the best price we could to everyone as we ramp up production.

Oh nice thank you!

What am I missing about this Ledger debacle?

Doesn't one have to opt into the new key storage service?

Otherwise, The only information Ledger should theoretically have on their user is their IP address based on using Ledger live software.

What am I missing? ...haven't yet don't a ton of research on this current affair.

I agree with you that you have to opt-in to use that feature. But with Ledger being closed source, I have to trust their word without verifying.

The point of cold storage in my opinion was that the keys should never leave the device. I just don't want another possible attack vector to worry about.

Keeping my Ledger for now & not opting into this new service.

My seeds are on paper with a heat & water shield & not on my immediate premises.

If I get hacked. Fk it.
