Here's the real beauty of #Nostr and the #plebchain.

Nostr gives you equality. True equality. Not some forced attempt by quotas. Rather a culture and a free market that determine value by your contributions, not who you are.

We are all just plebs. That makes us all on equal footing as a starting point.

On legacy social media you are still a pleb but you are ruled by self-appointed kings and live at the bottom of a de facto social hierarchy caused by influencer culture and the absolute power Zuck, Elon, and soon the WEF have over their respective platforms.

On Nostr there is no CEO, there are no leaders, we don't care about self-proclaimed "influencers", we reject all of this because we want to remain a group of plebs.

There is nothing “wrong” with this per se but there are trade offs that should be acknowledged when attempting to gauge realistic expectations regarding nostr.💜

Maybe we just follow different people but I don't see anyone fanboying over Jack if that's what you're implying.

In fact the way he takes time to reply to random low engagement plebs regularly kinda reinforces my point.

Compare to say Elon whose fanboys you simply can't miss if you use Twitter and who only ever replies to the same ten accounts because he knows they'll agree with anything he says and defend anything he does.

Totally different vibe. Nothing like that here.

I’m just observing and acknowledging that “you want the community to remain plebs” which demonstrates a collective effort to be highly selective when embracing new users.

If new users don’t fit the “criteria” or vibe they will be rejected.

It’s not a bad thing. It’s good to be cautious and selective.

It’s just fascinating for me to observe the “vibe” and how it evolves.💜

Ah I see what you're getting at.

You're not wrong there. If someone came on Nostr talking about Ethereum and NFTs they'd be hounded off pretty quick by the consensus in the community that's for sure.

What I'm trying to get across isn't that it's a community that welcomes literally everyone - that's literally impossible - but rather if you do fit in with the crowd here, there's minimal drama compared to mainstream social media (some drama happens, but much much less dramatic than Twitter cancel culture etc), instead of being bombarded with negativity because the algorithm knows you'll engage with it, instead you get an unmanipulated uncensored timeline of likeminded people who are part of a supportive community instead of trying to get one up on each other.

That's what I'm saying. This was the norm in web 1 but became rare after the advent of web 2, especially after Facebook opened to the public, so it's nice to have that back.

Well said, I agree. I met someone really nice here who is heavy into doge. I was right in the middle of bashing ETH & NFT’s and I kind of made this person feel somewhat apprehensive about sharing their personal experience in doge and ETH which was truly amazing. This person was very successful in doge and ETH.

I love the ETH community. It’s fun and very creative and that’s were all the artist’s are.

But that moment hit me to be more mindful and nice when referring to ETH and especially doge. LOL.

This is the general consensus or vibe that I have personally observed across the board on nostr for quite some time.

It’s just that your note perfectly illustrates the social dynamic on nostr.
